My favourite free illustration sites/libraries!

My favourite free illustration sites/libraries!

Whether you are a graphic designer or a web designer, you would certainly be using several illustrations in your projects. There are plenty of illustration sites all over the internet. However, choosing the right illustration for your project can really make your work look more amazing.

Now, the question that arises here is, from where can you find a perfect illustration for your project?

Well, to help you out I have listed out some of my favourite illustration sites which I have been using almost daily for more than a year now.
Check out my list and explore the sites/libraries from the below-mentioned list that excites you the most. So now let's dive right into it.

Basic/minimal illustration:

1. Undraw: This is probably the most popular & easy-to-use free illustration site. Whenever I need an illustration for my project I just rush to undraw and the results are always very pleasing. Undraw has over 1000+ illustrations. The point which attracts me the most is the option to customize colors as per my project color scheme. Also, you can download the illustrations in PNG as well as SVG format.

Doodle illustration:

1. Open Peeps: This is a free hand-drawn illustration library by Pablo Stanley. I use this very often when I need some informal, cool, or funky character illustrations. This library has monochromatic as well as multicolor illustrations which can be downloaded either in PNG or SVG format. Also, we can customize these illustrations by downloading this library. This library works with Adobe xd, Sketch, and Figma.

2. Open Doodle: If you are looking for some comic/ doodle illustration then Open Doodle is the right place for you. This is another great library by Pablo Stanley which allows us to download illustrations in PNG, SVG & gif formats. This library also comes with the feature of customizing the colors and most importantly you can also change the color of the outlines. Sounds cool, right?

Gradient illustrations:

Gradient illustrations can really power up your projects. So here are two of my favourite gradient illustration sites.

1. IRA Design: The number one on my list is IRA Design by Creative Tim, which provides really awesome gradients and hand-drawn sketch components for free. This site has free characters, objects & background illustrations, and you can also customize the gradient colors. Apart from the gradient illustrations, this website also offers outline illustrations.

2. Manypixels: Well, to be very honest I came to know about this site while writing this blog but since then I am in love with the illustrations of this site. This site is basically to hire designers but they also have some amazing free illustrations. The illustrations are divided into five categories: Monochromatic, Outline, Isometric, Flatline, Two-colors. Out of these five, my favourite is monochromatic which also has gradient effects in it. All these illustrations can be downloaded in PNG and SVG format.

3D illustrations

1. SALY- 3D illustration pack: This is a Figma Library, to use these illustrations just click on duplicate on login to your Figma account. Now, in the layers panel in Figma click on libraries, & then you'll get to see all these amazing 3D illustrations. To download them just click on export in the formatting toolbar and select the format (png, jpg, pdf, or SVG) which you need. You can also increase the size of illustrations from the toolbar.

2. Businessman Billy 3d This is again a Figma Library and you have to use it in the same way as we used SALY. This library offers some cool business character illustrations for free, which can be downloaded in PNG and SVG format.

3. 3D Human Characters This is again a Figma Library like SALY, but what I love about this is that although they have just 4 human characters, they are highly customizable. Also along with the characters, they have a guide to modify them which can really be very helpful for a beginner.

Apart from character illustrations, if you are looking for some 3D object illustrations the Shapefest and Slam Illustration are also worth giving a try.

Animated illustration :

1. LottieFiles: This offers a ton of mind-blowing lightweight, scalable animations for your website and apps, which can be downloaded in gif or MP4 format. These animations are highly customizable. You can change the speed, background color, play mode, hover, & much more.

So here my list comes to an end. Trust me, all these websites/ libraries are worth giving a try! Please do let me know if missed any amazing site and also comment your favourite from the above-mentioned list.
